A big sound concert for a warmer winter Saturday afternoon!
Harry Greene has made a big name for himself in recent years not only as a fine instrumentalist but also as arranger and band leader.
Dave O’Higgins has become a widely recognised performer and recording artist over a sustained period.
This concert marks a return to Piano Smithfield for both Harry and Dave but this is the first time they have played together.
Harry has performed often with Jazz at The Movies; performed with Chris Ingham’s Rebop group here at Piano Smithfield and brought his hard driving quintet more than once to Pizza Express Soho playing the best of Blue Note music.
Dave, who came to prominence playing with Jason Rebello for his first Wayne Shorter produced album and has for many years been the saxophone master with the Darius Brubeck Quartet, was, more recently, playing the music of the three tenors – Mobley, Gordon Turrentine at Dean Street. Earlier this year he made his Piano Smithfield debut playing tenor saxophone duo with his talented wife Judith and to great acclaim sold-out his first concert with the music of the late, great saxophone jazz icon John Coltrane.
Harry and Dave promise compelling interplay and imaginative solo skills supported by the top trio of Graham Harvey – piano, Alec Dankworth – double bass and Clark Tracey - drums.
