We are delighted to announce that celebrated British pianist and Ronnie's favourite, ASHLEY HENRY is performing on Saturday as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Vocalist, pianist and composer Ashley Henry today releases a new track “Melanin”, the second single from his forthcoming new 6-track EP My Voice. My Voice, due out on May 13th, is the follow up to Henry’s widely acclaimed debut studio album, Beautiful Vinyl Hunter, which was recognised as “a triumph in every sense” (CLASH) and featured as one of BBC 6Music’s Albums Of The Year. Gilles Petersen described the album as, “such a special record, he’s an incredible pianist and super melodic.” The first single from the new EP, the title track My Voice, is already out and available to listen to HERE.

“Melanin” features a stellar line up of some of the UK’s finest talent including flautist James Massiah, whose lyrical soundwaves weave in and around Henry’s warming voice to create a unique blend that is heavily influenced by contemporary jazz, hip-hop, R&B and soul.

“Melanin is finding someone or something that’s a refuge from taking that wrong or easy path” explains Henry. “Listening to it feels like a safe space. I wrote it as a certainty of belonging that’s accessible no matter where we are. Melanin is my celebration of beauty, love and black futurity. The track pays homage to women always trying to provide a safe space for their families and through their culture, and to the safe spaces I've found in my life".

Henry's live performances have seen him support the likes of Loyle Carner and Christine & The Queens, and play alongside some of the most innovative jazz and R&B artists including Nao, Celeste, Esperanza Spalding, Shabaka Hutchings and Gregory Porter.
