Legendary Cuban pianist and African kora master join forces for a special collaboration
Cuban pianist Omar Sosa’s musical journey has taken him to a global reputation as one the leading jazz pianists of his generation. Grammy-nominated musician, composer and bandleader, Sosa has released more than 30 albums across his glittering career, but his first album with Seckou Keita, Transparent Water, received terrific acclaim – Songlines described it as “beautiful, rhapsodic and spiritual”.
Composer and kora virtuoso Seckou Keita, from Casamance in Senegal, continues to enjoy an award-winning career as a fearless artist at the top of his game. His stunning collaboration with harpist Catrin Finch and his recent BBC Radio 2 Folk Award as Folk Musician of the Year underline his extraordinary versatility and critical reputation.
They play London together to celebrate the release of their second collaboration Suba – they will be joined onstage by Venezuelan percussionist Gustavo Ovalles.
“These two create the most extraordinary atmosphere with their music. A must!”
