David Jones, Director of Serious, in the Honours list

David Jones has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in The Queen’s 2019 Birthday Honours List.

The award, for Services to Music and Culture, publicly recognises David’s long-standing commitment to the scene through his work for Serious. The OBE is awarded to those who have “a major role in their activity, and whose work has made them known nationally in their chosen area”.

Serious is a creative producer of international music, and David is a front-line founding director, working closely with musicians and audiences across the country. Within Serious, he jointly created and developed the EFG London Jazz Festival, which celebrates its 27th birthday this year, and produced the Aga Khan Music Awards in Lisbon earlier this year. He is the Director of K-Music, the annual London Festival of Korean Music, and Contemporary Music Programmer at the Norfolk & Norwich Festival. He was a director of the Bath Festival for four years.

Past work has included producing the BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music, a series of gala events for the Metropolitan Black Police Association and shaping the BT River of Music Olympic live music programme.
