Zoe's performance will include trio arrangements of a suite she wrote for World Piano Day 2024, commissioned by Hull Jazz Festival and Humber Street Piano sessions.

A vibrant and highly individual pianist and composer, Zoe Rahman’s style is deeply rooted in jazz, yet it reflects her classical background, British/Bengali heritage and her very broad musical taste. Known for her powerful technique, wide-ranging imagination and exuberant performance, she has become a highly sought-after musician on the international jazz scene.

A MOBO Award winner, Mercury Prize nominee and Ivor Novello Award winner, Zoe has established herself as a unique presence in the British music industry, releasing seven albums under her own name. Her latest release, “Colour of Sound”, won Album of the Year at the 2024 Parliamentary Jazz Awards

The work was based on themes of voyage, migration and family, taking inspiration from two statues in Hull - one which commemorates the 2.2million people who passed through Hull as a port city, the other which looks out across the Humber to the sea. The suite is dedicated to a Palestinian cab driver, Mo, who she met on her travels in Hull and to his family in Gaza.

Alongside the suite, Zoe will be playing some of her new compositions and music from her latest "Colour of Sound" album.

Zoe will be performing as a trio with Gene Calderazzo (drums) and Alec Dankworth (bass).
