"Always exciting, playful, muscular and a tiny bit unhinged, that's what I love about Zoe Rahman" Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 2.
Described in The Observer as "a remarkable pianist by any standard", Zoe Rahman has firmly established herself as one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene. A vibrant and highly individual pianist/composer, her style is deeply rooted in jazz yet it reflects her classical background, British/Bengali heritage and her very broad musical taste. Known for her powerful technique, wide-ranging imagination and exuberant performance, she has become a highly sought-after musician, working with the likes of Courtney Pine, Jerry Dammers, Martha Wainwright and George Mraz.
Having written a song last year to help Frith Manor school win Jamie Cullum's Yamaha grand piano, Zoe showcases this beautiful instrument, performing brand new compositions with her internationally acclaimed trio, featuring drummer Patrick Illingworth (James Taylor Quartet, Hugh Masekela) and bassist Alec Dankworth (Abdullah Ibrahim, Dave Brubeck).
In Zoe's words "The piano Jamie generously gave the school is a beautiful instrument, it's a complete joy to play! I'm looking forward to playing it in the EFG London Jazz festival and giving something back to the school and local community who have supported me throughout the pandemic."
A MOBO Award winner, Mercury Prize nominee and British Jazz Award winner, Zoe is a special presence in the British music industry. This is a rare opportunity to hear one of the UK's most gifted jazz pianists in an intimate setting.
