Born in the USA to South African/Zimbabwean parents - Singer/Songwriter & Vula Malinga is no newcomer to the ever changing music industry.

Over the years, she has worked on various stages in many different continents with artists such as Sam Smith, Becky Hill, Clean Bandit, MJ Cole, Lalah Hathaway, Adele, Dizzee Rascal, Robert Glasper, Kurt Elling, Mabel, Incognito, Sam Sparro and more but most recognisably she is known for her work with the mighty Basement Jaxx where she joined their live band in 2003. That collaboration opened the opportunity to write & create their 2005 Top 10 hit "Oh My Gosh!" & more.

Most recently, Vula has been working as the Vocal Musical Arranger & Director on the incredible Quincy Jones Orchestral
project birthed from the BBC Proms series in 2015 with Jules Buckley as well as also Vocally directing & featuring heavily on the “Ibiza Classics” with UK dance DJ legend Pete Tong and the Essential Orchestra.

In 2019, she saw more chart success with her featured on the Top 10 hit dance single “Turn Me On (Dr Love)” alongside Riton and Oliver Heldens. Vula continues to work as the Vocal MD on a selection of BBC proms projects which saw the introduction of her vocal ensemble “Vula’s Chorale” which debuted on the Aretha Franklin Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in 2022 & featured again on Stevie Wonder Prom in 2023. Vula also saw her leading the six-man vocal team for the successful BBC Northern Proms in July 2023.

Anyone who has seen Vula in concert knows that this is one of the vibiest live shows London has to offer, and with EFG London Jazz Festival in town and Robert Glasper curating the week at Blue Note you can be sure there’s going to be some sparks set to fly and surprises along the way!
