Thomas Umbaca is an Italian-english pianist, composer and producer based between Milano and Malmö.
After classical and jazz background studies with internationally renowned musicians, he matures a unique and personal sound, combining different genres in a strongly expressive and evocative language.
Around the piano, he blends instrumental vocals, synths and percussions creating a flow, taking you through a journey between light and shadows, lyrical themes and rhythmical inspirations.
His young career has seen him play at well known festivals and venues around Italy, also opening for internationally acclaimed artists such as Alabaster DePlume, Shabaka Huctchings, Antonio Sanchez, Penguin Cafe. He has composed and produced original soundtracks for “Miriam - Il diario” by Monica Castiglioni (2015), “Il Terribile Inganno” by Maria Arena and “Dov’è la Fiesta?” by Niccolò Gentili (2026), as well as collaborations and music for theatre plays and performances.
His second album “Waiting for Music to Surprise me Again” was released in March 2026 via Ponderosa Music Records and co-produced with Amedeo Pace from NYC based band Blonde Redhead.
