The Third Orchestra draw musicians from right across world traditions. Tonight Swiss percussionist/electronics extraordinaire Christophe Fellay creates a new piece, sampling the inner resonances of Chinese pi'pa, Arabic oud, baroque hurdy-gurdy and the inside of the piano!
The orchestra includes Lucy Zhao pi'pa, Bakr Khleifi, oud, Stevie Wishart hurdy-gurdy, Matthew Bourne piano, Shri Sriram, bass, Ant Romero Spanish percussion, directed by Peter Wiegold.
Christophe Fellay will capture inner resonances from the solo instruments then feed them into the whole band, led by Peter Wiegold's famed improv. conduction
The show will also include numbers from the orchestra's latest album. 'Yet there is time', which emerged from a poem of Rabrindanath Tagore to go about the urgency of the need for change, for listening, in the world.
The orchestra currently has many invitations to work collaboratively to form new third orchestras in other parts of the world! Such as in Croatia, Slovakia, Holland, India, New York etc
