Acclaimed songwriter Tess Hirst will debut brand-new unreleased material that blends traditional and innovative jazz to explore themes of modern womanhood.
Tess Hirst emerged on the UK jazz scene in 2019 with the release of her debut album These Days, in collaboration with bassist Daniel Casimir. But it was her attention-grabbing, and critically acclaimed, second album, HERstory, that really sealed Hirst’s reputation on the UK jazz scene as a potent songwriter and performer, with listeners and audiences swept into a world where she skilfully intertwines the traditional with the innovative, crafting music that speaks to the soul of modern womanhood.
Her work, especially through her association with the pioneering London based label Jazz Re:freshed, has been pivotal in highlighting the evolution of jazz as not just a genre, but a medium for storytelling, empowerment, and change.
2026 has seen Tess return to the stage with renewed purpose. Her performance at PizzaExpress Live on 19 November will feature the debut of brand new material, giving audiences a rare opportunity to hear these songs before they are released.
