Tara Minton Quartet
Australian-born harpist and singer Tara Minton makes her debut appearance with her quartet at Off the Rails in Richmond.
Tara Minton is one of the tiny handful of harpists to make an impression on the UK jazz scene in recent years, with an eclectic repertoire of jazz, Gypsy jazz, classical, pop and, on occasion, dance music. She started playing piano at the age of four in her native Melbourne and began having lessons when she was seven, augmented by voice coaching and a brief spell learning flute. Then, at ten, came the harp. She developed her vocal skills further at the Ballarat Academy of Performing Arts. Since then she has played all over the antipodes and Europe: Lithuania, the Côte D’Azur, Paris, across Italy twice, the Netherlands and Ireland. She has worked with Her first album The Tides of Love was released in 2016 with a sell-out launch at the Elgar Room in the Royal Albert Hall. Tara Minton brings a very distinctive and original sound to jazz. She is accompanied by her usual quartet of Phil Mertiman, (piano), Ed Babar (bass) and Dave Ingamells (drums).
