Join 6-piece instrumental outfit Tanhai Collective and South London band Kotoa for a double headline live show this London Jazz Festival.

“They reminded me of how fresh and exciting underground artists could be” - Ricardo Burt, Crack Magazine.

6 piece instrumental outfit Tanhai Collective draw from Classic Soul Jazz and the jazzier end of post rock. Their groove heavy utilises 70’s production and recording techniques for danceable, explosive and occasionally dubbed out tracks for fans of Donald Byrd or Badbadnotgood.

Tanhai Collective is coming together to launch the album of band member Billy Hare whose debut album ‘Room 12a’ (releasing that week) will be a sound fans of Tanhai Collective will love. Leaning heavier into Brazilian Jazz and expansive arrangements on top of a foundation of strong hooks, rhythms and melodys.

Joining forces with Tanhai and Billy are 5-piece South-London band Kotoa, made up of drummer Laurie Campling, bass player Frank Black, keyboard player Sam Hillier, guitarist and vocalist Memphis Koloi & saxophonist and vocalist Maia Avery.

This event is promoted by Brick Lane Jazz Festival as part of their year-round event series, Brick Lane Sounds, championing the artists, labels and parties we're most excited about, both nationally and internationally.

The sound of young South London in one night on London's buzzing Brick Lane. A six-piece instrumental jazz-funk outfit, Tanhai Collective, plus their pianist Billy Hair (whose new solo project is about to drop) and Brixton based soul, jazz and dub five-piece Kotoa join forces for one very special, unmissable event
