Tammy Weis Celebrates the life of Julie London

Having performed to great acclaim in her native Vancouver for some years now, Tammy Weis is now resident in London. UK Highlights include performances with Jamie Cullum at the Jazz Café, and Ray Gelato at Birmingham Symphony Hall. Her debut CD, 'Legacy' has been universally well received, and has led to appearances at the Montreal and Vancouver and London Jazz Festivals .

Tammy has written with Terry Britten (Tina Turner), Tim Fraser (Lulu) and Tom Cawley (Acoustic Ladyland) for her most recent album and has been featured on Courtney Pine's 'Jazz Crusade' (BBC Radio 2) and Jazzwise magazine.

'Now there's a vocalist!' - Michael Buble'

"She's the real deal" - Time Out London

"A master of the ballad"- Julian Joseph BBC Radio 2

Growing up in Northern Alberta, Canada with a great-grandfather who played the banjo and fiddle, Tammy was already singing at the tender age of three. But by the time she approached her 20s music had taken a back seat.

Then tragedy struck with the sudden death of her mother. The trauma of her mother’s passing made Tammy reconnect with music and in June 2000 she released her debut album.

Dedicated to her mum, ‘Legacy’ was internationally received and led to appearances on national and international TV and radio, as well as gigs at the Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver Jazz Festivals and venues all over Europe.

Now based in the UK, Tammy has been heard on Radio stations across the country, including Jamie Cullum’s show on BBC Radio 2, Jenni Murray’s Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4 and Robert Elms BBC Radio London to name but a few. In 2010 she was nominated for London Jazz Vocalist of the Year.
