Romarna Campbell, Sarah Heneghan, and Johnny Hunter; an all drummer lineup exploring new horizons in jazz with wide ranging influences
The future of UK jazz showcased as we present artists from our Take Five Talent Development initiative that supports emerging jazz and improvising musicians through mentorship, residencies, and collaborations. Past participants include Seb Rochford, Shabaka Hutchings, Yazz Ahmed, and Nubya Garcia
Our evening show brings the talent of our current Take Five participants
Drummer, composer and producer Romarna Campbell brings her hip-hop influences to the Festival whilst she works on her debut EP. Mentored by Gary Crosby, Terri Lyne Carrington, and others, she has performed worldwide with Billy Childs, Courtney Pine, Ephemerals, and more
Known for mixing live drums with electronics and working for equality in music, Sarah Heneghan has worked with samba, fusion, and electro-jazz and gives back to her community as a coach and teacher in workshops providing support to other emerging artists
Named as 'artist to watch' by Jazzwise, drummer, composer and bandleader Johnny Hunter focusses on composing for improvisers; to make the most of their skills in interpreting the music whilst retaining a strong compositional identity. He developed techniques with his group, Fragments, with their album described as an 'imaginatively detailed and uncompromising diary of a virtuosic improv group' by John Fordham
Tickets for this show are £15 + booking fee, but you can get tickets to both afternoon and evening shows for a discounted price of £25 + booking fee
