Since joining the Guildhall School Sol Grimshaw has immersed himself in a large variety of styles within the jazz idiom. However this project brings Sol back to his routes of Gypsy jazz and his main influence, Django Reinhardt. The trio will be playing a mixture of jazz standards , Originals, Gypsy Waltz’s and Reinhardt Originals.
Cyclone are a newly formed quartet exploring sounds of both classic and modern jazz. Since forming Cyclone have had the pleasure of hosting Hackney Church Jazz Jam accomodating various genres and styles into one unique sound. Formed of Guildhall Jazz students from various years you can expect to hear sounds of Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Kenny Garrett, Tony Williams, McCoy Tyner, Cannonball Adderly and many more!
Inspired by the broad and exciting South London fusion scene, Cityscape aims to reflect what it is like to be a young adult in the capital. Drawing from genres such as jungle, metal and hip-hop, there sound is eclectic to say the least however they manage to create a unique tapestry that takes listeners on a journey.
