Sarathy Korwar is a drummer, composer, producer and bandleader who has established himself as one of the most original and compelling voices in the UK jazz scene. 

His music fuses jazz, electronics, Indian folk and classical influences with a focus on decoloniality, community, race and transcendence. His latest album, There Is Beauty, There Already, celebrates the melodic and rhythmic power of the drum ensemble. 

Korwar has been the recipient of two Grammy nominations, an AIM Award, MOJO Jazz Album of the Year and The Guardian Best Global Album of 2022/2025.

Korwar has toured and collaborated with the likes of Anoushka Shankar, Kamasi Washington, Metropole Orchestra and Shabaka Hutchings. 

Korwar performs two sets at Barking Riverside. The first set will be solo ahead of being joined by London-based saxophonist, woodwind player and composer Chris Williams for the closing set.
