Three of the 606 Club’s favourite singers, Rachel Sutton, Jo Harrop & Eileen Hunter, perform timeless vocal-led jazz standards. A delightful and fun-filled afternoon!
Following their joint triumph in past EFG London Jazz Festivals, we have asked back not one but three of our favourite singers to perform both separately and together in what is becoming an EFG London Jazz Festival tradition!
With a rich tone and sense of swing, Rachel Sutton's performances include standards and show tunes along with her own arrangements of more modern popular songs, plus the occasional original. Her album “A Million Conversations” was received with considerable acclaim, described as ‘a revelation’ by Jazz Views. Rachel's winning onstage persona will charm any audience!
Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop performs a beautiful, straight-ahead set of timeless jazz favourites. A rising star on the UK Jazz scene her new album ‘The Heart Wants’ has received glowing 4 and 5 star reviews in several publications, including The Guardian and Jazzwise, and she includes appearances at the likes of the Jazz Cafe, Royal Albert Hall and the Sage Gateshead on an impressive cv. Her music has also been featured on Courtney Pines’ Radio 2 show ‘Jazz Crusade’, Jazz FM, BBC Radio London & more.
Eileen Hunter is not only a wonderful vocalist with a lovely, breathy delivery but also a highly accomplished musician, fluent on both piano and flute. Signed to Jive Records in 2003 her first CD “I Miss the Sky” was released through Jazz FM and she has worked at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Regents Park Open Air Theatre as well as the 606 for many years. Accompanying these wonderful singers will be a rhythm section that includes Roland Perrin-piano. A delightful, fun-filled and unique afternoon of great music.
