Rachael Cohen, one of the most in-demand players of her generation, is highly regarded as one of the leading players on the London Jazz scene. Headhunted by American Bassist Michael Janisch, she released her debut album ‘Halftime’ on his now internationally acclaimed record label Whirlwind Recordings in 2013.
She has worked extensively in the last ten years with the likes of trumpeter Mark Kavuma, US saxophonist Nicole Glover, and more recently, touring with the New York supergroup ARTEMIS, led by piano legend Renee Rosnes. She holds a long-standing residency at the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s and has been listed two years in a row as a rising star by the American magazine ‘Downbeat’ critics. Here, she presents a quartet of outstanding musicians in their field, with a concert promising to show the best of the Jazz and Brazilian sounds.
Heidi Vogel is one of the most revered vocalists in the UK. Heidi made her debut with Cirque de Soleil. From there, she became a frequent face on the breakbeat scenes in London and LA, soon becoming involved with the Cinematic Orchestra, for whom she has been the lead singer for the last 15 years. Heidi’s extraordinary voice and musical understanding have allowed her to feature in many different genres with ease and authenticity, from classic Jazz settings to, most recently, her performances with bass superstar Thundercat and her appearance on the posthumous record from pianist Austin Peralta.
Josue Ferreira and Anselmo Netto have a rich history of performing together since their arrival in London some 20 years ago. Josue is a guitar virtuoso and vocalist who plays with all the history and influence of the great masters, from Joao Gilberto to Toninho Horta. His playing can be heard on Heidi Vogel’s acclaimed record ‘Turn up the quiet’ and releasing his records of original compositions.? Anselmo Netto is known for his work with the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Bernardo Lobo and Ibibio Sound Machine.
