Premiere of a new project, the brainchild of Norwegian drummer Terje Evensen and trumpet player Rory Simmons. Having collaborated for many years with Anglo-Norwgeian band 'Eyes Of A Blue Dog', Oh Beautiful Blizzard brings together a chamber ensemble featuring George Crowley on clarinets, Natalie Rozario on cello and Mike De Souza on baritone guitar and bass 6. Fusing chamber writing inspired by Christian Wallumrod and Kenny Wheeler, with the amiebt experimentation of the contemporary Norwegian scene.
Terje Evensen has toured and recorded with Spin Marvel, Nils Petter Molvaer and John Paul Jones. Rory Simmons is a musician and producer behind such projects as Monocled Man, Fringe Magnetic and Harlequiin. This eclectic blend of musicians
A debut performance from Oh Beautiful Blizzard — a bold and immersive new project from Norwegian drummer and producer Terje Evensen and UK-based trumpeter Rory Simmons. Longtime collaborators through the critically acclaimed Anglo-Norwegian group Eyes Of A Blue Dog, Evensen and Simmons continue their creative partnership in a fresh context, drawing from their deep-rooted connection in both improvised and composed music.
This ensemble brings together some of the most distinctive voices in the UK experimental and contemporary classical scenes: George Crowley on clarinets, known for his warm, lyrical phrasing and exploratory approach; cellist Natalie Rozario, whose sound bridges classical finesse and avant-garde edge; and guitarist Mike De Souza, weaving rich harmonic textures on baritone guitar and bass 6.
Blending detailed chamber writing with wide-open sonic exploration, Oh Beautiful Blizzard fuses the subtle lyricism of Kenny Wheeler and the quiet intensity of Christian Wallumrød with the ambient minimalism and spacious improvisation that defines much of the modern Norwegian scene.
