Nai Barghouti: Unheard

Nai Barghouti: Unheard
Sun 12 Nov 2023

Award-winning singer, composer and flutist, Nai Barghouti, has become one of the most distinguishable vocalists of a new generation of Palestinian and Arab artists. With a layered ornamental technique that uses her voice as a musical instrument, Nai brings a genre-defying link between Jazz and Arabic music.
Along with her Amsterdam-based quartet, she’s renowned for her stunning rearrangements of iconic pieces from Umm Kulthum to Fairuz, as well as original work well rooted in Arabic maqams, Jazz and classical western music.
Her show, presented by MARSM and Kings Place and titled Unheard, is an evening of grief and hope, dedicated to all those whose voices are unheard, particularly the children of Gaza. All proceeds from this event will go to support the United Nations humanitarian relief fund.
“…the Palestinian singer’s voice commands the track.”

“Very charming... beautiful, confident and so musical.”
