George Nelson in bringing his live improv night ‘Moments Notice’ to its biggest stage yet.
George Nelson's Moment's Notice is one of London's hottest tickets. The monthly 'first meeting' improv series crosses the river from Peckham's Amp Studios to Islington's Union Chapel for one afternoon, and the line-up is astonishing.
Featuring UK titan and Jazz Warriors founder Courtney Pine, spellbinding Belgian bassist Farida Amadou, amazing British-Bahrani trumpeter Yazz Ahmed, mighty Ezra Collective and Gorrilaz drummer Femi Koleoso and (quite rightly) lionized Swedish double bassist Petter Eldh to play three fully-improvised sets.

Yazz Ahmed (Trumpet)
Farida Amadou (Electric Bass)

Curation and Concept: George Nelson
"This line-up is decorated (we have a Mercury Prize, CBE, MOBO, SWR Jazzpreis, Deutscher Jazzpreis, The Wire Album of the Year, Jazz FM Album of the Year...etc) yet feels very present and NOW. It also carries an intoxicating mix of influences and stylistic leanings, which is one of the hallmarks of Moment's Notice. All of which is to say you should consider this one-off meeting essential."
George Nelson, Moment's Notice Creator-Curator
“Curated by George Nelson and placing improvisation under the spotlight (something that is hugely important to me as a jazz fan), this showcase and scene has become an important platform for some of the best to do it. Past guests to this night have included Kae Tempest and Shabaka Hutchings, so the focus is razor sharp. Keep the free-flowing energy and clear-cut chops on the stage! I also got married at this venue so it's a special one for me.”
