The GRAMMY-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter is a visionary musician, whose deeply jazz-influenced sound has captivated audiences across the globe.
Having made her Blue Note Records debut with her acclaimed The Omnichord Real Book, her productions entwine a broad spectrum of influences, all stemming form her diverse musical routes.
Fans have come to expect the unexpected and follow her on sojourns into soul, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, rock, all bound by the search for love, justice, respect, and resolution. Those sonic investigations have defied and redefined the expectations for women, for queer artists, and for black music for over 30 years.
Meshell is always grateful for the opportunity to share the stage and believes music is a fellowship. She looks to spread that gospel with every creation and collaboration.
“Meshell Ndegeocello is a tireless visionary. Her entire career has been in pursuit of musical discovery and innovation. Although this kind of praise is sometimes used too freely in jazz, in Meshell's case it’s deserved. Album to album, tour to tour, you never quite know what you’re going to get - but it will always intrigue and move you. Whether re-interpreting the Nina Simone songbook or fusing rock, soul, dub and jazz with her Grammy winning Blue Note debut The Omnichord Real Book, the bar is always set high, and Meshell always gets there. Her recent album was released on the 100th birthday of American writer and activist James Baldwin, so expect to hear moments from that superb tribute. Or perhaps Meshell will have something new up her sleeve …”
Jez Nelson, Jazz FM Reccomends 2024
“Meshell Ndegeocello is not to be missed. Her beats are bad, matched by seriously impressive lyrics that are inspired by watching and listening to the life around her.”
Robbie Vincent, Jazz FM Reccomends 2024
