Following the 10th anniversary of his groundbreaking album In the Moment, which established him as a leading voice in jazz and beat-driven music, Makaya McCraven returns with four new EPs. Techno Logic, The People's Mixtape, Hidden Out!, and PopUp Shop each arrive this October via International Anthem / Nonesuch / XL Recordings.

The source material from each EP is drawn from moments of pure improvisation, recorded live in performance, shaped as much by the room and audience as by the musicians themselves.

Building on the success of his acclaimed 2022 recording In These Times, the project features long-time peers like Ben LaMar Gay, Theon Cross, Marquis Hill and Junius Paul.

The EPs find McCraven continuing to push his sound forward, staying true to his approach of reshaping and re-contextualizing music in new and unexpected ways.

Opening is fellow International Anthem royalty SML. Anna Butterss, Jeremiah Chiu, Josh Johnson, Booker Stardrum, Gregory Uhlmann is a quintet based out of Los Angeles, a veritable supergroup of prolific composers & producers delving deep into a hyperrealist, collectivist approach to creation.

A performance from SML is a unique thing, often entirely improvised, such is the level of their connection and their powers of communication. Fluid, propulsive, freeform, exuberant, intricately polyrhythmic, the band paint a magical, incomparable tapestry of ideas, sitting somewhere amongst Joe Chambers' solo work, Squarepusher, Gang of Four & Brian Eno. Their second album is set to drop just a few days after this show.
