Tamunangue is a folk dance in South America. It is celebrated in Lara State in Venezuela every year as a festival in honour of St. Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of that state.
This project is led by Luzmira Zerpa, the lead singer of Family Atlantica, one of the most celebrated Venezuelan artists working in the UK today. Her background is steeped in the immensely rich lineage of Venezuelan folk music, and she plays traditional instruments such as the cuatro (Venezuelan four-string guitar) yet, she chose to base herself in London because she was drawn to the mix of musical cultures in the capital and will draw on the capital’s rich diversity to bring something of her adopted home into her approach to Tamunangue.
