The EFG London Jazz Festival is proud to present five outstanding youth music ensembles from across London. For this year's London Lineup, the groups have been asked to tell the stories of what makes their community special, whether that's the people, geography, or cultural/historical features that form their community or area. Many of the groups have formed new partnerships or artistic collaborations and are presenting brand new music written for this performance.

Impossibilities, Guildhall School of Music and Drama - 12:00 - 12.45

ImPossibilities create a sonic amalgam of free jazz, spiritual sounds, roots and folkloric music, hip-hop, nu-soul, spoken word, groove and abstraction. For this performance, Impossibilities have composed a new set on the theme of 'Sound of Resilience', looking at how young people view resilience given the challenges they face in times of unrest. The work will be composed through whole band improvisation and individual commissions.

Wired4Music - 13.30 - 14:15

For this performance, Wired4Music will curate a lineup of 16-25 year-old artists from across London, with a focus on underrepresented voices. Artists will be selected to work with a Wired4Music live house band to evolve their songs into fully arranged live performances. A team of young event producers have produced this project and performance to give them hands-on experience on a live event.

JMI Youth Big Band - 15:00 - 15.45

The JMI Youth Big Band brings a powerful new set to the EFG London Jazz Festival, blending jazz with the rich musical traditions of North African and Andalusian Jewish communities. This year’s performance features a special collaboration with renowned UK cellist and composer Shirley Smart, whose decade in the Middle East deeply shaped her music through diverse influences including Algerian Chaabi, Moroccan Gnawa, Arabic song, Mizrachi popular music, and Klezmer. JMI YBB Artistic director Sam Eastmond brings his own original compositions and bold arrangements, creating a fresh and exciting fusion of ancient traditions and modern jazz energy.

Tomorrow's Warriors Youth Ensemble - 16:30 - 17.15

Tomorrow's Warriors Youth Ensemble is an exciting new line-up of musicians aged 15-19, featuring some of the most promising musicians on Tomorrow's Warriors' award-winning Young Artist Development Programme. The band have been closely mentored by Rosie Turton, one of the finest trombonists on the London scene, and Denys Baptiste, Mercury award nominated saxophonist. For this performance, Tomorrow's Warriors Youth Ensemble will celebrate the rich community and variety of jazz musicians across London.

Roundhouse Resident Artists - 18.00 - 19.00

The Roundhouse is one of London’s most iconic cultural venues and a pioneering youth arts charity, providing access to creativity and the creative industries to more than 10,000 young people each year. Roundhouse’s Resident Artist programme supports the professional development of exceptional emerging artists on the path to forging sustainable artistic careers. This special EFG London Jazz Festival event will feature performances from Hana Amaya, Holden, NIA, TOBITHEFREAK and YAZ.
