Nikki Yeoh's presents her Nucleus Sessions each month with a host of upcoming talent.
Now only 22 years old, multi-award-winning left-handed bassist, composer and BBC Young Jazz Musician of the year 2022, Ewan Hastie is fast making his mark on the UK jazz scene, and his trio features two of Scotland's finest talents, Tom Gibbs (piano) and Stephen Henderson on (drums).
Ewan has been described as “The Best Bass Soloist I've Heard at His Age...Ever!" (Professor Tommy Smith OBE, Head of Jazz at RCS) and "One To Watch" (The Scotsman). Hastie’s technical virtuosity and creativity balanced by the mastery of Tom Gibb’s touch and melodic sensibility, supported by Stephen Henderson’s rhythmic versatility, showcases a fusion of modern jazz, folk and soul elements made up entirely of his own original compositions.
Wednesdays will be led by a host of leading jazz players who will present their own bands followed by a jam for invited guests.
