Future Movers is an ever-evolving ensemble featuring the UK’s finest breakthrough jazz musicians. They play a mix of jazz, hip-hop, Afro-beat, funk and soul drawing influence from Fela Kuti, Tony Allen, Maceo Parker and more.
Phil Meadows has received two Parliamentary Jazz Awards, a London Music Award and the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award for his music. He’s the founder and artistic director of the Engines Orchestra, has conducted the Grammy-award winning Metropole Orkest, been commissioned by the Royal Northern Sinfonia and recorded and performed across Europe with his own music as well as in collaboration with Matthew Herbert, Phronesis, Ingrid Jensen and Femi Temowo. Tonight’s band has been curated by Meadows who joins on sax and acts as musical director.
