Kirk Lightsey is a legend of the jazz piano. He is joined here by fellow Paris resident, the great US drummer Sangoma Everett, and long time associate UK stalwart bassist Steve Watts.
Kirk Lightsey is a legend of the jazz piano. He was born in Detroit in 1937, and performed and recorded with Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker and Sonny Stitt. Deep roots and a feeling for the blues, together with a richly developed sense of harmony characterise his playing and make his concerts uplifting and joyful occasions. He is joined here by fellow Paris resident, the great US drummer Sangoma Everett, and long time associate UK stalwart bassist Steve Watts. Completing the quartet is Alex Hitchcock, one of the most exciting saxophonists of his generation – described as a ‘virtuoso’ by the Guardian and a ‘fantastic talent’ by JazzFM.
