Belgian pianist Jérémy Dumont and his Quintet offers an exciting original view on contemporary jazz, rich in rhythms, inspired by sounds from around the world, Latin influences, Gnawa and many others.

Jérémy Dumont began studying the violin at age 5. Following a period as a chorister with the RTBF Choir, he switched to piano at age 12, studying under concert pianist Karin Lechner.
In 2010, his quartet won first prize at the Dinant Jazz Nights Young Talents competition in Belgium. In 2012, his trio secured first prize at the Comblain-la-Tour Festival Young Formations competition in Belgium. In November 2012, he was a finalist in the Boris Vian International Piano Competition in Ville-d'Avray, France.
His musical journey took an exciting turn in New York, where he formed The New York Project Quartet. The ensemble toured Belgium in December 2018 and January 2019.
In the USA, he crossed paths with American saxophonist Godwin Louis, which led to the formation of a quintet with whom he has toured internationally since 2018. Together, they recorded Jeremy’s second album, Eretz, at Jet Studio in Brussels, with mixing handled by Dave Darlington in New York.
Jeremy has consistently embraced diverse musical experiences, ranging from groove to electro-funk, while remaining rooted in jazz. He has refined his craft with legendary musicians such as Fred Hersch and Johnny O’Neal. In July 2019, he toured Europe with Etienne Charles’ quintet.
He also initiated unique projects such as the Elektric Band, a tribute to Chick Corea, and has taken on roles as composer, arranger, conductor and musical director for large ensembles, including Soul Trigger (Toots Jazz Festival 2014) and Eleven for Ten (International Jazz Day 2021).
Tonight he will perform with Jean-Paul Estiévenart (trumpet), Zhenya Strigalev (sax), Shimon Gambourg (double bass) and Harvel Nakundi (drums).

"A pleasant, tasteful and swinging session based on simple yet captivating compositions that leverage Dumont’s penchant for middle Eastern melodies.”
