Celebrating the Jazz Clubs
Join us for an evening exploring the music of two jazz giants with acclaimed trombonist and vocalist Malcolm Earle Smith and an all-star band including Tony Kofi on sax.
The compositions of Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk have inspired generations — from Elvis Costello to Jon Hendricks’ clever takes on Monk’s genius.
Now, acclaimed trombonist, vocalist and "new King of Scat" (The Guardian) Malcolm Earle Smith leads a distinguished band from the UK jazz scene - Tony Kofi on alto sax, Hans Koller on piano, Calum Gourlay on bass and Gene Calderazzo on drums - in a vibrant tribute to these two jazz trailblazers. Expect bold tunes, sharp lyricism, and heartfelt storytelling — blending humour, groove and the spirit of rebellion that defines their music.
