Chris Ingham brings his show Hoagy 2 to Piano Smithfield, as part of a new album launch.
Chris Ingham, one of the UK’s most recognised jazz pianists, musical raconteurs and band leaders, returns to Piano Smithfield with his new, second show Hoagy-2! Chris has enjoyed considerable success entertaining audiences around the country with his first album and this concert is the London launch of his second album. Tonight will be a joyful, edifying and heartfelt salute to the wry, down-home brilliance of songwriter Hoagy Carmichael, tracing his journey from Indiana, via New York and to films in Hollywood.
The evening includes well-loved hits, including “Rockin’ Chair”, “Lazybones”, “My Resistance Is Low”, “Skylark”, “Stardust”, “The Nearness of You” and arguably his longest standing gem “Georgia On My Mind”, alongside obscure nuggets and delightful curiosities from his rich and varied songbook.
Chris has already built a popular jazz cabaret reputation with concerts at major London venues featuring the life, times and music of several musical greats including Rodgers & Hart, Dudley Moore and Jimmy Van Huesen, plus his Jazz At The Movies series of swinging music from the silver screen.
Chris is joined by his established regular quartet members:
Paul Higgs – trumpet,
Joe Pettitt – double bass and
George Double – drums
