Brand new venue, The Addison, in Olympia presents a unique double header of two supremely talented singer-songwriters - the esteemed Gwyneth Herbert and future star Pippa Blundell. Their contrasting performance styles both draw on a fusion of genres from jazz, folk, pop and more.
GWYNETH HERBERT is a performer, composer / lyricist and multi-instrumentalist and has been hailed as one the most imaginative and idiosyncratic artists of her generation. She has collaborated with artists, academics, communities, companies, orchestras, pole dancers and puppets to produce a huge canon of interdisciplinary work that seeks to find dialogue with the world. As well as releasing 7 critically-acclaimed albums and performing at venues and jazz festivals around the world, she is the co-creator of 8 musicals, including the record-breaking productions of “A Christmas Carol” and “The Nutcracker” at Bristol Old Vic. Other composition work has involved major commissions from the London Sinfonietta, Mahogany Opera Group, Snape Maltings, and the BFI, and she has this year been nominated to join the 75th edition of the Southbank New Poets’ Collective. Expect a set full of hope, humour and heart as Herbert invites us on an expansive journey through her work – with haunting sea laments, witty character vignettes, soaring melodies, rousing choruses… and maybe even a poem or two!
PIPPA BLUNDELL
Glasgow, Scotland is the gift that keeps on giving and Pippa Blundell is fast becoming one of its most captivating new voices. The rising singer-songwriter has already earned recognition from the Scottish Album of the Year Awards, Scottish Alternative Music awards and winner of the 2025 'rising star' in the Scottish Jazz Awards. Her album was hailed 2025 album of the Year on BBC Radio Scotland’s 'Roddy Hart' show and this year she was invited to perform with the BBC SSO as for their Burns night 2026. Their music blends the intimacy of folk storytelling with ethereal textures and a classical vocal edge, drawing comparisons to Anohni and Jeff Buckley, with lyrics that navigate stillness, nostalgia and life’s chaos. Pippa performs tonight with regular guitarist and duo partner, James Mackay.
