Celebrate a decade of the globally acclaimed collaboration between double-Grammy-winning jazz pianist/composer Alan Broadbent (Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, Paul McCartney), and multi-award-winning vocalist/lyricist Georgia Mancio (Ian Shaw, Parliamentary Jazz Awards, ReVoice! Festival).
Across two albums, two books and six tours (with performances including Ronnie Scott’s and Jazz at Lincoln Center), their 40+ co-written songs have drawn comparisons to Rodgers and Hart, Cole Porter, Joni Mitchell and Stephen Sondheim. With virtuosic performances, both profound and joyous, intimate and epic: “this exquisite yet potent series of reflections on the human condition is too good to miss” (The Jazz Rag).
Alan and Georgia return to The Pheasantry for this special EFG London Jazz Festival residency, 10 years after their partnership began there, during the 2013 edition. In 2014 Alan invited Georgia to conceive a lyric for The Long Goodbye, originally composed for Charlie Haden’s Quartet West. By 2017, they had launched their first album of originals, 'Songbook', and been heralded as “one of the most formidable songwriting partnership of the 21st century” (Jazz Views). In 2021, their follow up, 'Quiet Is The Star', was among the Arts Desk, Jazz Views and Jazzwise ‘Albums of The Year’, and released alongside the publication of their book 'The Songs of Alan Broadbent and Georgia Mancio'.
Georgia is a supreme storyteller whose performances connect deeply with her audiences, as recognised by her two Parliamentary Jazz Awards (Best Vocalist 2021, Best Album 2020) and multiple nominations at the Jazz FM, British Jazz and Urban Music Awards. She famously produced her own festivals ReVoice! and Hang in association with The Pizza Express, and has also worked with the BBC Proms, Bobby McFerrin, Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw, Kate Williams and Pat Metheny (lyric approval).
Joined by esteemed colleagues, bassist/producer Andrew Cleyndert (Ronnie Scott, Bobby Wellins, Annie Ross), and drummer Dave Ohm (Ian Shaw, Gregory Porter, Benny Golson), prepare to be transported into Georgia and Alan’s songs and stories.
