The EFG London Jazz Festival at Kings Place proudly presents Emma Rawicz’s Visitor From Everywhere, a brand-new tribute to the great Wayne Shorter, the artist behind legendary compositions Visitor from Nowhere and Visitor Somewhere.
In a never-before-seen lineup, Emma Rawicz will be joined by a very special constellation of musicians, curated especially for this year’s London Jazz Festival. The group features five strong musical voices, each with their own distinctive identity and impressive performance history. It is also a band built upon relationships old and new, to create a truly unique ensemble. This performance represents something of a full circle moment for Emma Rawicz, especially with regard to her performance alongside the great Laura Jurd, who Emma first heard perform in this very hall over six years ago, at the very beginning of her own musical journey, when Laura was something of a mentor figure. Years later, it is a joy to share the stage with Laura, who has been one of Emma Rawicz’s greatest inspirations as a composer and trailblazing leader within the jazz community.
Emma will also be joined by longtime collaborator Conor Chaplin, with whom she has toured extensively and forged a strong musical connection.
Anton Eger is another star on the international jazz scene, having previously toured with Phronesis and Marius. He is an artist Emma Rawicz has looked up to for a long time prior to their first musical meeting in Norway earlier this year.
Finally, the legendary Jason Rebello joins the group for what will be the first time playing with Emma Rawicz, in a collaboration that promises to be an exciting one. Jason is a particularly exciting addition to the lineup, having previously played with Wayne Shorter himself.
For Emma, this performance is also an expression of her gratitude for being able to travel so much and share her music so widely as a visitor, and to reflect that each person in the band is coming from somewhere else to be together combine all of their unique voices in the iconic setting of Kings Place’s Hall One.
