Deeper Cuts celebrates jazz-ish music - artists giving it a twist, fusing it with other gloriousness and pushing things forward. It’s a bi-monthly live night at the warm, welcoming Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney.
We’re very excited to announce a special show on November 19th led by Emanative - one of the brightest stars in London’s jazz sky, working in an exclusive new constellation!
They’ll be joined by powerhouse vocalist and composer Plumm - setting the scene for Deeper Cuts’ first ever EFG London Jazz Festival show! Don’t miss ✨
Emanative Percussion Trio
Emanative is drummer, producer and bandleader Nick Woodmansey.
A prolific collaborator with everyone from Four Tet to Idris Ackamoor and Peter Zummo, Nick’s eclectic tastes push his music all over the map, but its spiritual jazz roots run deep. He’s made records for heavyweight UK labels like Brownswood, Jazzman and On The Corner - full of trance-like percussion, meditative grooves, and boundary-pushing improvisation.
We’re delighted to have him bring a unique drums/perc/sax line-up to grace the Paper Dress Stage, with master percussionist Magnus Mehta and saxophonist, flautist and bass clarinet don Ben Hadwen!
Strap in. You’ll be taken somewhere special.
Plumm
Plumm’s voice has long been echoing through the London jazz community. Based in South, with a Welsh core - the composer and multi-instrumentalist released a stellar solo single on Women In Jazz earlier this year, is a member of leading collective Levitation Orchestra, and tireless collaborator with people like Marla Kether, Marysia Osu and Queenstown Collective. She’s been a Brownswood Future Bubbler, championed by Jamz Supernova, appeared on all kinds of soundtracks.. If I keep listing credits, we’ll sail over the wordcount - but rest assured, her solo set will be ace.
Karl Bos (DJ)
Deeper Cuts is curated by Karl Bos, who is a DJ and the host of a long-running show of the same name on Soho Radio. He’s immersed in new music as a national jazz radio producer. He’ll play some songs, and maybe rope in some selector buddies to play some others.
It’s a not-for-profit event, with everything after costs going to the artists on top of their fees. Supporter tickets are for people who want to and can afford to pay a little more. Equally, if the low-income tickets are gone and the ticket price is a barrier, please drop us a line on deepercutslive@gmail.com.
