British-Nigerian singer-songwriter and musician Ego Ella May brings her distinctive blend of R&B, neo-soul, contemporary jazz and poetic songwriting to the stage.
Jazz sits at the centre of Ego’s musical world — the “root of it all” — but her sound reaches well beyond the genre, drawing on artists including Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone and Solange. Her writing is deeply personal, exploring identity, healing, love, social consciousness and the realities of modern life.
Her critically acclaimed debut album, Honey For Wounds, established her as one of the UK’s most compelling voices, earning her Best Jazz Act at the MOBO Awards and Best Vocalist at the Jazz FM Awards. Her music has also featured on soundtracks including Insecure, Sex Education, Dear White People, Queen Sugar and And Just Like That.
Following collaborations with Ari Lennox, Theo Croker and Kojey Radical, Ego expanded her sound through the FIELDNOTES EP trilogy, with FIELDNOTES PT II receiving a five-star review from The Telegraph.
Her latest album, Good Intentions, marks her most expansive work yet. Warm jazz textures meet alt-soul, broken beat rhythms and intricate vocal arrangements, while the songwriting tackles personal and social questions with the same candour that has defined her work. Produced in part by Alfa Mist and Beat Butcha, the album features What We Do, We’re Not Free, Don’t Take My Lover Away and What You Waiting For.
Good Intentions reached No. 2 on the Official Hip Hop and R&B Albums Chart, while its release earned Ego her third MOBO nomination for Best Jazz Act. In 2026, she was also nominated for Independent Breakthrough and Best Live Performer at the Independent Music Awards.
Expect an evening from an artist whose music moves between jazz, soul and contemporary R&B, with songs that reward close listening and a live presence that brings their emotional detail into focus.
