Nayla Yenquis Group is an international band playing MPB which literally stands for Popular Music of Brazil . Arising at the same time as the eclectic, innovative Tropicalia sound, MPB is a rich, poetic style that incorporates the sounds of both the Samba and Bossa Nova mixed with elements of contemporary jazz which has also contributed to the sound.
Nayla Yenquis Group’s repertoire moves from bossa to samba and partido alto combining those other foreign influences of jazz and soul, presenting some of the major composers of this style.
The Nayla Yenquis Group’s repertoire is a diverse eclectic mix of their own unique compositions and exciting versions of Brazilian classics interspersed with their own original songs. Their music moves beautifully between bossa, samba and partido alto whilst combining foreign influences of jazz and soul, inspired by major composers of this style.
The quartet will be presenting an enticing amalgam of contemporary Jazz and Brazilian song and together with the punctuating Brazilian percussion, will leave you gasping for more. Let the music do the talking, so just book your seats to this bossa/samba/jazz/soul extravaganza and experience it live at Hampstead.
