Dark Days is a new work by bassist and composer Neil Charles. It responds to the uncompromising clarity and poetic force of James Baldwin’s reflections on psychic survival, resistance and the emotional toll of racial injustice.

Scored for acoustic jazz quartet, the piece features four of the UK’s most revered improvisers — Neil Charles on bass, Mark Sanders on drums, and Cleveland Watkiss on voice.
