Multi award-winning bassist and composer Daniel Casimir who has become a regular fixture within the UK jazz scene, is back with his solo debut album Boxed In, a dynamic collision of pulsing modern jazz & orchestral instrumentation.
Jazz FM’s “Instrumentalist of the Year” Daniel Casimir, returns with his solo debut album Boxed In, a dynamic collision of pulsing modern jazz & orchestral instrumentation, released last November on Jazz re:freshed.
Described to have won the Young Jazz Musician Award in 2016 “with great mix of communicativeness, simplicity and sass” the multi-award winning bassist and composer Daniel Casimir has become a regular fixture within the UK jazz scene. Providing his heavy weight upright sound for the likes of Nubya Garcia, Ashley Henry, Camilla George and Binker Golding to name a few.
Featuring the album features Casimir’s quintet of fellow British jazz luminaries, including Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd, Al Macsween & James Copus, Daniel’s debut album astutely bridges traditional and contemporary jazz forms with enveloping strings, woodwind & brass arrangements, but under its intricate musical surface seeks to confront some necessary hard truths. Boxed In has been awarded the Parliamentary Jazz “Album of the Year”.
