Formed in the early noughties and led by Chris Franck and Patrick Forge, Da Lata play a high-octane blend of bossa and samba from Brazil mixed with a London soul and jazz vibe. This special London Jazz Festival show marks the release of ‘Birds’, their fourth album. Still rooted in the Afro-Brazilian rhythms that have informed their music throughout, “Birds” sees Da Lata evolve into even more soulful territory. Performing gems from their back catalogue and songs pulled from the new album Da Lata are set to deliver an uplifting experience blending elements of Samba, Bossa, Afrobeat, Funk, Soul and Jazz in a way that is uniquely Da Lata. It has been six years since the 2013 release of their acclaimed album 'Fabiola' on Agogo Records which reasserted the band as leaders of the UK/Brazilian music scene both at home and across Europe.
“They haven’t lost their instinct for a killer groove… at the heart of things is a cooking live band from a dream dance club” The Guardian
"Da Lata back on top form. Proper London tropicalia" Gilles Peterson
Patrick Forge, Da Lata founding member, original DJ from Dingwalls' seminal Sunday Jazz Sessions with Gilles Peterson and the man behind the music that is Cosmic Jam (Kiss FM and Mi-Soul), will be raiding his crates to bring the best jazz dance and Latin beats to this big Hideaway party.
'I’m looking forward to experiencing the vibe that Chris Franck and Patrick Forge will create with their Brazilian blend of bossa, samba soul and jazz. Also hearing live versions of tracks from the pair's new album ‘Birds’.'
