Saxophonist Tim Garland, who was a member of the late Chick Corea’s The Vigil band, is joined by Jason Rebello at the keyboard and a UK A-team including Asaf Sirkis, Ant Law & Conor Chaplin in a loving tribute to The Vigil Songbook in this special EFG London Jazz Festival show.
The passing of Chick Corea earlier this year was a huge loss to the jazz world. The legendary keyboardist worked with saxophonist Tim Garland on several projects, but it was The Vigil (2013) that got this industrious composer writing material especially for that band which featured Garland up front.
The Vigil, with whom Garland toured globally between 2013-2015, was a band to keep the flame of positive creativity alive and delighted in mixing a 40-year span of repertoire as well as music written just a week before hitting the road! Using the hybrid electric / acoustic band format, Tim Garland is joined by maestro Jason Rebello at the keyboard and a UK A-team including Asaf Sirkis, Ant Law, Conor Chaplin and others to lovingly bring to life The Vigil repertoire.
