Experience the Clore Ballroom like never before as the Milestones team transform it into a vibrant Blues Party! Expect a ska-reggae-rocksteady melting pot, paying homage to these fabled Caribbean house parties of 1960-80s Britain. We’ve decked out the space for you to dance, socialise and kick back to our lineup of fresh artists and DJs.

This show has been planned, programmed and delivered entirely by young people as part of Milestones, delivered by Serious, a professional development programme for aspiring live music professionals. Through masterclasses, mentoring and shadowing, participants have gained the skills needed to run live events. Blues Party is the culmination of this process.

Panel Discussion - ‘The Lasting Impact of Caribbean Blues Parties’ 1:30 - 2:30pm

In the 1960s-80s, Britain’s musical future was being shaped by underground Caribbean house parties - providing an alternative space to Britain’s nightlife, from which Britain’s growing Caribbean community was alienated by racism and financial barriers. Join us for this panel discussion unravelling the history and politics of these parties, and their impact on British-Caribbean culture.
