South London songstress Bina (stylized as BINA.) first came onto the scene in 2019 with her debut EP Humble Abode. Fusing elements of alternative R&B, neo- soul and jazz, BINA. swiftly became one to watch.

Inspired by the likes of Solange, Erykah Badu and IAMDDB, BINA. is representing a generation of vocalists that are choosing not to be constrained by production. Whether on a mellow hip-hop or an experimental jazz beat, BINA.’s voice will always blend perfectly.

Following from the warm reception BINA. received off of her first EP, she continued to craft out her sound and collaborate with producers and musicians from a variety of genres which led to her latest EP This is Not A Film.

Live has always been a key part of BINA.’s identity, with her performing in several intimate showcases and gigs. The flood of support from Dark Cloud encouraged live performances including opening up for Osquello at the Hoxton Underbelly, New Wave Mag x Paddington Works and Boiler Room.

Growing up in the foster care system, BINA. speaks candidly of how this has impacted different areas of her life. Her lyrics depict the narrative of a young dark skin black woman on a journey of self-discovery and reflection. BINA. has never shied away from being vulnerable in her music and has seen this as a way to truthfully connect with her audience.

Opening the evening is a rising star in the UK music scene, Ashaine White. Just when you thought every genre mash-up had been done, Ivor Novello Rising Star Nominee Ashaine White arrives with a brand-new hybrid: grunge-soul.  Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Lianne La Havas, Paramore, Radiohead and Nirvana, Ashaine’s moody, spellbinding approach to jazz harmony and melodies, wrapped with a brash garage-band sensibility and storytelling at the focus of her songwriting form a unique and exciting soundscape. Her second EP Ash is out now.
