Celebrating the Jazz Clubs
We are delighted to welcome Bea Maher and LAVERY, two of the best new neo soul / jazz fusion acts around at the moment, to open our 2025 Jazz Festival programme.
LAVERY is a collective of musicians playing jazz fusion and neo soul from Dublin, they are an 8 piece band made of some of the most sought after session players in the city. Established in 2023, the band combines over 50 years’ worth of playing experience among its members from varied musical backgrounds. The band consists of members from different countries and music performance colleges (BIMM, DCU's Jazz Program (Newpark)), with these cultural and technical backgrounds their sound is one of a kind.
Throughout their short tenure, they have had a meteoric rise and played in prestigious Irish venues such as Lost Lane, Dashi, The Racket Space and a Culture Night event in The Sugar Club and are hungry to establish themselves on the European scene.
Lavery is a band that grows and shines by the energies created by both the performers and the audience. It's a living breathing organism, fronted by the fantastic Anelise Furkin, whose powerful and unique voice guides their punchy but mature style.
Their Influences come from jazz, neo-soul, samba and hip hop but don't expect anything to sound like it "should".
"We are a collective who collects. Musicians, sounds, ideas, all are welcome. No two shows will ever be alike; no song will ever be performed the same way. The vibe is set to simmer, with a chance of outbursts of joy."
Bea Maher
Born in South London, Bea Maher blends soul, funk and jazz, drawing inspiration from artists like Amy Winehouse and Lianne La Havas. Her music is deeply emotional, with lyrics exploring love, longing and self-discovery.
A graduate of BIMM Brighton, Bea captivates audiences through intimate live performances. In 2024 her debut EP Can't Love, gained widespread recognition, which included gracing the cover of Spotify's Fresh Finds UK, also featuring on major playlists. 2025 has seen Bea kick off the year by supporting Rizzle Kicks on their comeback tour.
