Melbourne-based trumpeter, singer and producer Audrey Powne performs an intimate gig, featuring music from her debut album From the Fire.
An exciting new voice in soulful jazz, Powne honed her craft in the vibrant Melbourne music scene, and can now be found performing in some of the most visionary musical circles globally. She has gained recognition and acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 2’s Jamie Cullum and Radio 6’s Gilles Peterson, who described her as “The Very Brilliant Audrey Powne”.
Powne released her debut album, From the Fire, in April. In addition to songwriting and playing trumpet, vocals and keys, Powne also composed, arranged the strings and produced the album, which has received widespread critical acclaim. Fresh from touring with Grammy nominated band The Teskey Brothers and performing at Ronnie Scott’s and the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Powne will perform a special relaxed gig at Deptford’s the Albany, a venue with a rich musical history.
Powne will be accompanied by a band and support from Daudi Matsiko.
