A wonderful mix of own compositions and music from many corners, cultures and traditions of the world. For one night only this fine trio of exceptional and multi-talented London-based string players come back to Clapham’s Omnibus Theatre to perform as part of this year’s EFG London Jazz Festival.

Loosely connected to the jazz world but realistically inhabiting her own realm, Alice Zawadzki is a vocalist, violinist, songwriter and composer based in London, with considerable repute as “a genuine original” (The Guardian), and a distinctive and individual presence on the creative European music scene. She performs extensively as both a soloist and as a collaborator, with headline performances at major UK venues and festivals, including the Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scott’s and the London Jazz Festival.

Shirley Smart is recognised as one of the UK’s most versatile and creative cellists – being equally at home and well versed in jazz and Middle Eastern music, as well as classical music. Originally trained under Raphael Wallfisch at the Guilldhall School of Music, and Janos Starker in Paris, she subsequently moved to Jerusalem, where she remained for 10 years, studying and performing a wide variety of musical traditions from the North Africa, Turkey and Middle East. Since returning to the UK, she has quickly become known as one of the most creative cellists on the music scene.

Winner of the 2014 Kenny Wheeler Jazz Prize, Misha Mullov-Abbado is an in-demand bass player, composer and arranger based in London, and is a regular at Omnibus. He is a 2017 BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, a 2014 City of Music Foundation Artist and has released three albums on Edition Records as a band-leader and composer; ‘Dream Circus’ (2020), ‘Cross-Platform Interchange’ (2017) and ‘New Ansonia’ (2015), all of which have been extremely well-received in newspapers and magazines across Europe and the latter of which has been included in “Best Jazz Albums of 2015” by The Telegraph and BBC Radio 3. His most recent album was produced by fellow Edition Records bassist and bandleader Jasper Høiby. As an experienced band-leader but also a versatile sideman Misha has performed at many of London’s top venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the Vortex, 606 Club, Pizza Express and Royal Albert Hall.
