Saxophonist Alex Hitchcock and guitarist Ant Law have created a startlingly vivid new soundworld in their trailblazing group Same Moon in the Same World. The quartet presents a special one-off performance in the round at Stone Nest for EFG London Jazz Festival 2026.
Acclaimed as composers as well as instrumentalists, sharing multiple awards and numerous albums as leaders between them, saxophonist Alex Hitchcock and guitarist Ant Law have created a startlingly vivid new soundworld in their trailblazing group Same Moon in the Same World.
Returning to the EFG London Jazz Festival, the quartet presents a special one-off performance in the round at Stone Nest. Joined by special guests for this festival performance, Hitchcock and Law bring together an exceptional band for an evening of adventurous new music as part of the city’s annual celebration of jazz.
Ant Law was listed as a Rising Star in the Downbeat Critics Poll 2026 and called “a game changer” and “an innovator” in The Guardian. His ninth album ‘Unified Theories’ was Jazzwise magazine’s editor’s choice, receiving a 4.5 star review. In 2013 his debut 'Entanglement' was released, followed by 'Zero Sum World' (2015), 'Life I Know' (2018), ‘The Sleeper Wakes’ (2020) and ‘Ensconced’ (2024). Ant is a member of Trio HLK who record/tour with Evelyn Glennie and has also toured and recorded extensively with Tim Garland, Emma Rawicz and many more.
London-born Alex Hitchcock is a leading international voice on the saxophone. An Ivor Novello-nominated composer, he was described by BBC Jazz World as 'leading the charge in terms of new jazz music being created in the UK'. Recognition for his work includes the Peter Whittingham Award, the Conad Jazz Prize at the Umbria Jazz Festival, and the Jazzwise Editor's Album of the Year in 2023. Working between London and New York resulted in Letters From Afar (2025), which was selected as a Stereogum and NPR Album of the Week.
Stone Nest is an arts organisation and performance venue in the heart of London's West End, bringing exceptional and experimental art to a wide audience.
