Join three of the world’s most thrilling percussionists for a joyous, high-energy celebration of rhythm without borders. Abbos Kosimov (Uzbekistan), Ayman Mabrouk (Egypt) and Andrea Piccioni (Italy) bring together dazzling traditions of hand percussion from across Europe, North Africa and Central Asia – from the doira’s hypnotic pulse to the deep groove of the riqq and the tamburello’s dance-floor panache.
This welcoming drop-in workshop is open to everyone – from curious first-timers to seasoned drummers – and offers a rare chance to explore the language of rhythm alongside true masters of their craft. Some instruments will be provided, or you’re welcome to bring your own handheld percussion. Come ready to listen, play and learn in the relaxed open environment of the Clore Ballroom.

Specially invited young musicians from the global Ismaili community, or Jamat, perform music that reflects their diverse musical backgrounds and artistic journeys.

Witness some of the true masters of percussion from around the globe performing together, weaving the rhythms of Central Asia, North Africa, the Mediterranean and beyond into a spellbinding, cross-continental cacophony. Expect energy, virtuosity and groove as these world-class performers are joined by members of the local community, opening out to create a truly original jam as the show goes on.
