Abdoulaye Samb on the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers
Sun 23 November 2025
Stage time / 11:49am
Originally from Senegal, Abdoulaye Samb was inspired by his brother who was a musician. In his early twenties, Abdoulaye had the opportunity to work in a builders merchant in the village of Yene by the sea. There, he was influenced by the beautiful scenery and the surroundings. As he was listening to a variety of music on the radio, one day he decided to create his own sound. Using the tools and materials available in the shop, he managed to make his own guitar with fishing rods and a petrol can. Since then, the guitar became his favourite instrument. He then went back to Dakar where he was taught by Mamaya, a griot from the Cissoko family.
The sailing will arrive in Barking Riverside in time for Riverside Sounds, taking place 5 minutes by foot from Barking Riverside Pier at The Exchange.
Abdoulaye Samb will be playing on an Uber Boat by Thames Clippers sailing from Bankside Pier (11:49) to Barking Riverside Pier (12:49), Sunday 23rd November.
You are welcome to join the journey at any pier and the gig is free with a boat ticket purchased online at www.uberboatbythamesclippers.com, touching in/out with Contactless or Oyster to pay as you go, via the Thames Clippers Tickets or Uber apps or purchased at the pier.
