Pianist and composer Aaron Parks hits the road with music from By All Means, a new album that marks a fresh yet deeply rooted chapter in his musical journey. While the record features Ben Solomon on tenor saxophone, Ben Street on bass, and the legendary Billy Hart on drums, the touring quartet brings a dynamic live energy of its own—with Dayna Stephens stepping in on tenor saxophone and Cornelia Nilsson on drums, joining Parks and Street for a series of performances that honor the spirit of the album while opening new pathways through the material.
With By All Means, Parks embraces a more swinging, harmonically rich approach, drawing inspiration from the deep well of jazz tradition while making it fully his own. The influence of Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Duke Ellington can be heard in the compositions, filtered through Parks’ particular lens. The result is music that is unapologetically a jazz record—melodic, intricate, and alive with interplay—featuring songs that feel classic yet fresh, timeless yet personal. At its core, By All Means is a record about connection—between musicians, between traditions, and between the emotional worlds that music can evoke. There is a romance to these songs, an undercurrent of love in its many forms, expressed through melodies that linger and improvisations that speak with clarity and heart.
This quartet brings the music to life with vitality and spontaneity, offering audiences a chance to experience these songs as ever-evolving conversations in real time.
